Context

The company in question is a multinational, recognized industry leader, producing a wide range of food & beverage products as well as hygiene and home products. In Italy, the group has 6 companies, amongst them, one in the Verona area that produces food and products to flavor foods.

The company had received more than a few complaints from residents of the nearby residential district due to the noise generated by the operation of the evaporation towers positioned on the roof of the factory. The noise detected at 1m was 88 dB(A), especially annoying to those who were a few yards away
.

This noise exceeded the limits set by the acoustic zoning plan of the city of Verona. The company and its neighboring houses are in CLASS III or urban areas affected by local traffic, with average population density and with limited presence of handicrafts.

Solution

After a site inspection, 2 Zeta engineers identified and presented to the customer the most appropriate solution to bring the plant's noise level within the legal limits allowed through a descriptive project, forecast of the economic investment, production times and installation requirements.

The solution consists of two distinct parts: the first is a parallelepiped silencer with dissipative bafflels placed on the upper fan, with a complete closure of the same, replacing the original cylindrical silencer which was not sufficiently effective.

The second part is a sound-isolating sound-absorbing barrier placed on the 3 sides, with the front side facing the home almost to the ground, while the two sides are raised for the correct intake air flow.

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Results

The result was to bring the noise to 68 dB(A) at 1m from the evaporative tower with a noise reduction of 20 dB.

-34dB

The soundproofing intervention has met the limits for the acoustic zoning for receptors in class III, 45 dB(A) at night time.
